TRAVEL

Marblehead is accessible from Boston, but not easily by public transit. Once up on the North Shore, cabs are available, but note that 20 minute waits or longer are not uncommon. Marblehead and Salem proper are both easily explored on foot. However, car access is recommended for those looking to move between the two regularly.

LAND

Marblehead is approximately 4.5 hours by car from New York City and 10 hours from western Pennsylvania. We highly recommend road trips, and there are plenty of New England-y things to do along the way.

Amtrak’s Northeast Regional and Acela Express routes are convenient for travel from New York, Philadelphia, and DC.

AIR

Logan Airport in Boston is 30-45 minutes from Marblehead, depending on traffic. Ubers and Taxis available at the Airport will take you to Salem or Marblehead no problem. Should you be looking to explore the area beyond the immediate surroundings of your hotel or rental, we recommend renting a car.

Given recent Amtrak construction schedules, air travel can occasionally be more affordable and convenient than train even within the northeast corridor.

SEA

Unless you are journeying from Cape Ann or the South Shore, sea travel is unlikely to be your speediest option. However, for those determined to get out on the water, there are a few options:

  • The Salem Ferry from Boston is far more scenic than a taxi for air & train travelers or anybody taking a trip into Boston from Salem.

  • Once in Salem, there are several harbor cruises available.
